SAILING BOAT OBECHE AND IT'S SKIPPER KARI ÖFVERBERG

I had a dream to sail with my brother to Mediterranean till Alicante where I have my farmhouse. I kept my illusion alive  although my brother  insisted that its a too long and hard voyage for him.
Last time when I was in Kemi, in Northern Finland, we were only speaking of his future  visit in next April to Spain  with his wife Marja.
All was wonderful till I received the  sad news, that he my younger brother Kari  had perished few hours  ago in his home town Kemi at the age of 64.
To fill the empty area which I have now after his death I decided to make a photo collage of all the important things in his life.

"OBECHE" waiting his master in the cold February sun on it's dock in Kemi yacht harbour.
Our mother, Kari and the youngest sister celebrating the last Christmas 2013 together .
My brother always happy and pleasant to everybody on board of his own handmade sailing boat.
Kari 8.2.2014 with her wife Marja in front of the famous Kemi Snow Castle.
Our last fishing trip on ice 9.2. 2014 near the Kemi swimming beach.
I always wanted to visit  Haparanda Town Hotel, famous secret agent meeting point during World War II.
Kari and me freezing inside the Snow Castle, or at least I look more frozen.
The famous land mark in "Meri-Lappi" area , Haparanda water tower.
The church of ALATORNIO , built by the KING GUSTAF ADOLF THE II  of Sweden in the 16th century.
The beautiful medieval wooden church of TORNIO.

Me looking the old "resting" place for my ancestor Ferdinand . Soon my brother will have his own in Kemi cemetery.

MY DEAR BROTHER, WHEN WE DEPARTED AT OULU AIRPORT YOU GAVE ME A PEN DRIVE, IT WAS MARVELOUS TO FIND OUT YOUR TALENT TO GATHER OUR FAMILY HISTORY AND PUT IT TOGETHER WITH PHOTOGRAPHS AND DATES.

MS WILHELM GUSTLOFF

I have chosen two ships, which will be remembered during the voyage. SS John Crafton which wrecked  in front of  Kokkola (Gamlakarleby) on  the Gulf of Bothnia and MS Wilhelm Gustloff with nine thousand (9000) German civilians on board, which had been evacuated from the East Prussia's town Königsberg.  The MS Wilhelm Gustloff was torpedoed by a Russian submarine 30th of January 1945 on  the Baltic Sea.
At the SS John Crafton wreck we lay a Memory Plate, ORRSKÄR , 8th of SEPTEMBER 1905, SS JOHN CRAFTON .
On the Baltic Sea on the hypothetical sinking place we lay down  a GARLAND in the sea with the obituary : TO THE MEMORY OF  THE  9000 PEOPLE WHO PERISHED THEIR LIVES IN THIS TRAGEDY ON  A  COLD WINTER DAY ,  30TH OF JANUARY 1945.
SS JOHN CRAFTON, THE FLAG SHIP.
